What songs, chants or poems are available for teaching young children how much glue to use?

I am an art teacher and one of the things children need to learn is how not to use big puddles of liquid glue on their projects. I’ve looked on the internet for songs or chants but can’t seem to find any. If you have a glue song, chant, or poem I would love to know what it is.

That’s something that is best taught through visual and hands on experience, not through a song or graph. Demonstrate it to them, let them experience it for themself.

To the tune of “Mary had a little lamb”
Please do not use
to much glue
to much glue
to much glue
please do not use to much glue
or else you’ll make a mess
Just take the bottle and give it a little squeeze
little squeeze
little squeeze
Just take the bottle and give it a little squeeze
little squeeze
and that will surly do.

no chant
demonstrate the proper amount and desired results
demonstrate the extreme amount and the consequences…I would tell my students that if the glue squeezed out from around the picture when they attached it…then they used too much and need to adjust their amount…I told them that glue is very powerful and only a little teeny tiny bit is needed to do a good job

I’ve found that “dot, dot, not a lot” works well with the 3-6 year olds that I’ve taught…they sit there and chant it while they dot. They even compete with each other to see who can put the smallest dots on their project, while still having it stick
And in the years that I used that, I almost never had to clean up glue puddles. The glitter was a different story, but that’s true with 12 year olds as well

I know a teacher that uses a jingle from an old commercial - “A little dab will do ya.” She demonstrates what a dab is as opposed to a gob and a mess. Seems to work.

i ask my kids “are we going to be gluing an elephant to the ceiling?” and they reply with “no”…then i ask them “how much glue should we use?” and they usually reply with “small dots” or “thin lines” depending on the original directions given.
