Six? That’s a lot of songs for an audition! You want to show some versatility; I think you’d want something along the lines of:
- A Cole Porter song (something from Anything Goes, or Kiss Me Kate - get a Cole Porter songbook, he wrote some gorgeous songs)
- A Rogers and Hammerstein song (one of Laurey’s songs from Oklahoma, or Nellie’s from South Pacific)
- Something from Guys and Dolls or My Fair Lady (two absolute classic shows which are canon in the musical theatre repertoire) - try If I Were A Bell, or I Could Have Danced All Night
- An Andrew Lloyd Webber song (just don’t sing Memory, Think of Me or Don’t Cry For Me Argentina)
- A Sondheim song (Green Finch and Linnet Bird (Sweeney Todd) or Lovely (Follies)
- Possibly a Kander and Ebb song (something from Chicago or Cabaret), or something more modern - if you can belt, look at Come To Your Senses from Tick Tick Boom!.
Essentially, try to avoid songs from shows which are hugely popular at the moment - ie Wicked, Hairspray, Avenue Q, Spring Awakening, Les Mis, Legally Blonde, Phantom and probably Grease as well.
