    I don’t think this has anything to do with mutilation to cope with pain.
    “I hurt myself again today” to me is more about the vicious cycle of emotional pain. How we inflict it upon ourselves when we don’t have to.

    Then again, I don’t self-mutilate…

    i agree - in a way. i think it’s just about pain in general. and how hard it is for most to cope with it, so they go to bad self-destructive bahavior…

    I think this song is about self injury, reassurance, neediness and generally not wanting to be alone. I think the girl in the song feels so alone that she hurts herself to cope. I’m probably wrong. If you all like sad songs, check out Band of Horses. Either The Funeral or No Ones Gonna Love You.

    Yeah, the orginal guitar version is so much better. Anyways I love both Adele and Sia, but I think their music is completely different.
