LOL, never thought of that twentyoutoftwenty2, yeah, I remember that guy in Spin Doctors–think his was “Baron” or something (just remember them from mtv and stuff) but I laughed when you mentioned Carlin–I can see that Ian makes those kinda faces haha
and iamareplicant, I totally agree w/ u about RUSH–I’m a total Geddy Lee freak–nobody beats him on bass…dear gawd

I saw this live in Los Angeles in 1976. They played every single song from Songs from the Wood note for note. In 30+ years. only Rush (Hemispheres) in 1979 could compete with the sheer genius, musicianship, live sound, and outright jaw-dropping performance as that concert.

Amazing. Saw hem live too. He reminds me of the singer for Spin Doctors with some George Carlin thrown in.

Ian’s musical adroitness is certainly depicted here. Been a Tull fan since ‘68 (when I was 15). The first glimpse I ever got of them was on The Stones “Rock and Roll Circus” as one of the “acts”. Even at this early stage Anderson’s virtuosity on flute was astounding–made me a lifetime fan. I saw them 3x: (New York in 70’s), (Toronto 2x in late 80’s) Absolute GENIUS.

Different planets, indeed, different planets all together…I fear I’m very indigenous to THIS one. MTV can have the other one, I don’t care.

I saw Jethro Tull in Dayton Ohio in 1981 at the Hara Arena. Festival seating, smoking allowed. I got his towel that he through out into the audience. Subsequently, the people that had a towel tug of war with us, eventually tried to run us off the road as we soared through downtown Dayton as they were attempting to hit our car with a tire jack. Fun times as teens!

Ive seen Jethro Tull four times..three in the 70’s and once in the eighties… I saw Ian do a 10 or 15 minute solo on his flute, standing on one leg the whole time… It rocked…

this is such a fantasticio band. Making up my own words here.you know who is also a great flautist and multi instrumentalist? Chris Wood. He is not alive anymore. If you punch in the words, “Rainmaker” by the band Traffic, you can get to see another fantastic flute player. Too bad Chris died so young. jethro Tull is awesome. Unique.

To all aspiring rock drummers out there, listen to everything this guy does. His name is Barriemore Barlow, and if you can emulate a fraction of what he plays you will get work.
