Is there a way to copy songs from cassettes to cds?

I have hundreds of cassettes (before cds existed) with all my favorite songs…I want to get an Ipod, but as I understand it, only songs from cds or the computer can be put on an Ipod. Is there a way I can copy songs from cassettes to cds, or would my money be better spent buying a new cd collection?

Its a long process. You have to get a cassette player that has a line-out connection on the back. Connect that to you line-in on the computer and use a program like cdex to make mp3s out of them. You have to play all of the tapes at normal speed. It will take forever.
