Songs

I have a video iPod and I downloaded songs using my friend’s laptop. I then hooked up my iPod to another friend’s iPod to download more songs and all the songs I previously had all got deleted.

So I had to download new songs into my iPod all over again.

I also recently purchased a MacBook and I’m afraid that if I hook up my iPod and download songs, all the songs I currently have will get deleted since thats what happened the first time around.

Is there a special setting I have to set on my iPod or MacBook to prevent songs from getting deleted every time I use a different laptop or computer?

Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
