How do I add songs from a different iTunes to an iPod with songs already on it?

I just got an iPod with 850 songs already on it from my friend. I cannot go on the iTunes to edit, delete, or add any of the songs, because the iTunes is on his computer with his new iPod. Is there any way to add songs from my own iTunes while still keeping songs on the iPod?

itune blocks this function since itune is the tool with one way to transfer files from itune to ipod. you must utilize other tools to achieve that. There’re couple of tools for transferring the files between ipod and computer (for backup)depends on your demands, e.g transfer only songs/videos, transfer photos etc. You can have a look of below review site, hope it useful.

connect the ipod and go to it’s page where it says “restore” or “update”.
then scroll down and you should see 4 check list. one of them say “manually add music and video”
caution: i believe this might delete all the songs on the ipod (so make sure your friend as all the songs on to the computer) but its a maybe but it will alert you before it does anything.
this will give you the option to add music and video to the ipod from any library without deleting the ones on the ipod. you just drag and drop , IT WILL NOT SYNC. so it might be a killer dragging all the songs to the ipod. and also you cannot recover the songs on the ipod except purchases

My suggestion would be to get a 2 or 4G flash drive and go back to your friends computer. Save the songs you want from his itunes on the zip drive and just bring them back and upload them on your computer. there is really not an easy way to do this since itunes is a big pain in the a$$

You can use your ipod as a mass storage device. Dump the songs from your friends computer onto your ipod like you would with a flash drive. Then take those songs to your computer. Your iTunes will wipe out your song library but if you have the files just dropped onto the hard drive of your ipod you can add those to your computer then to your itunes and finally to your ipod. It sounds complicated but is easy. Hope this helps.
